At AVW our objective is to offer a very personal, reliable and trustworthy service and an excellent, competitively priced vintage watch product. Like a good boutique, we carry a limited selection of personally sourced stock. Each vintage watch we buy is carefully selected and individually purchased according to a number of key criteria: marque, model, reliability, condition, collectibility, investment characteristics and price. Each watch passes through a rigorous process of examination.
We have an in-house expertise on the interior workings of vintage watches, which allows us to provide an efficient, professional and cost-effective approach to servicing and regulating our product, where appropriate, to ensure it is offered to the purchaser at its optimum level of performance. This also means that while keeping the quality and performance high we are able to maintain a competitive edge with product costs. If there are servicing requirements we can not deal with we employ a highly reputable Central London specialist. All our watches are offered with a 12-month warranty and Certificate of Authenticity. The condition of the piece and a description are noted in the product description on the site.
Our specialism, and indeed passion, is for vintage watches dating from the 1950s, 60s and 70s; a period thought by many to be the golden age of vintage watches. An evolutionary time where increasing advances were made in the precision and accuracy of watchmaking as a result of post WWI advances in machine tooling and the means to manufacturer components more precisely. This produced an age of exceptional mechanical movements where accuracy trials and chronometer tests were lauded and purchasers actively sought out technically superior watches. It was in 1952 that Omega launched its flagship model, the chronometer rated Constellation, whose bloodline continues today. It was also a time where watches were gaining success in increasingly difficult terrain, seen in Rolex’s Explorer, Submariner and Sea Dweller deep sea models.
At AVW we are proud to offer a range of excellent vintage watches from this period; high-quality vintage Omega watches (the vintage Omega Seamaster, the vintage Omega Constellation and the Omega Seamaster De Ville), a range of high-quality vintage Rolex watches as well as choice pieces from other high-quality vintage watch brands such as Longines and IWC.
AVW is an expanding concern which has grown through word of mouth and minimal advertising. This is an endorsement of the keen attention to detail and the impressive quality of service the business delivers; where every customer is important regardless of their level of expenditure. For us selling vintage watches is as much about passion as it is about business and our desire to share the pleasure of owning a vintage watch with others. Such is our dedication we are happy to travel out from our workshop to Angel Islington in North London to meet with potential clients or to deliver watches in person.
