Bell and Ross Black Dial Automatic Mens
About this watch
Bell and Ross are the “New Kids on the Block” in watch making terms. They burst onto the scene in 1992 with a range of professional divers’ and pilots’ watches that gave notice to their competitors that they were a force to be reckoned with. They have continued producing watches designed to be used in extreme conditions, one of which had a water-resistant depth which exceeded that of any other diver’s watch. It held that record until quite recently.
They also make well-specified watches for the ordinary man in the street. These watches benefit from the company’s principles of creating models that have three crucial ingredients. These are accurate time keeping, strength and ease of reading.
The watch on offer here is based on the styling of the pilot watches of World War 2. Its black dial has large numerals at the three, nine and twelve o’clock positions, and index markers for the other hours. A true vintage look is given by the inclusion of a seconds sub-dial at the six o’clock mark with a small round date display at the base. Further features are:
• Stainless steel case, 41mm diameter x 12mm thick
• Black alligator leather strap, 22mm wide
• Deployment clasp
• Fixed stainless steel bezel
• Water Resistant to 100 meters/330 feet
There is a great interest in designs which provide a nostalgic glimpse of the past and watches of this quality will always be sought after. Given Bell and Ross’s reputation in the professional marketplace their watches are likely to become serious collectors’ items in the future.
