About this watch
This stunning 1956 Longines Conquest features a lovely 18-carat yellow gold case, complemented by gold applied hour indices and gold dauphin hands, beautifully offset by a contrasting white dial. The case-back features the striking Conquest enamel legend, which pictures a starry night at sea.
With the robust and accurate calibre 19AS 19-jewel movement – where each jewel is held in its own threaded gold sleeve – which has gold chatons and screwed balance, Swiss level escapement, with Incabloc shock protection, this is of an extremely high quality.
A watch of substance, the movement has been fully regulated, runs reliably, and keeps very good time. It has been fitted with a new crocodile brown strap, in keeping with the overall aesthetic of the piece.
A little history: One of the oldest watch brands, Longines launched its Conquest line in 1954. It was their first step in introducing a new product development strategy integrating the idea of a line of models.
