A truly splendid 1948 Longines Sei Tacche. In original condition, this military watch is a rare gem. With a simple, yet striking, appearance, which features distinct orange hands, bold arabic numerals, a tidy seconds dial at the ‘6’ mark and a ‘Sei Tacche’ 33.5mm stainless steel case (‘Sei Tacche’ being an Italian term for the six notches used for opening the screwed back case).
Reference 23715, it has manual movement with 18,000 bph, 17 jewels and is caliber 27M.
Fully serviced and regulated, this piece keeps excellent time.
A highly respected brand Longines was founded in 1832 by Auguste Agassiz, the brother of the reknowned naturalist Louis Agassiz. In 1919 Longines was appointed the official supplier for the International Aeronautical Federation and as such Longines watches were involved in many aeronautical expeditions during the early 20th century. Following on from which Longines continued to have a long history in the development of military watches, particularly for aviation purposes.
