About this watch
A sleek, and beautiful, watch, this Omega De Ville 1964 has the handsome combination of a sheer black dial, offset by gold applied gilt baton hour markers and watch hands, with the Omega logo found below the 12 ‘o’ clock mark and on the watch crown. Measuring 35mm in diameter, the 18ct gold case has the distinctive Omega ‘hippocampus’ sea horse embossed on its back.
Reference number 165020, it’s powered by the Swiss made 24-jewel calibre 552 automatic movement, with 19,800 beats per hour (5.5 per second), Incabloc shock protection, and sweep seconds.
A seldom-seen version of this classic watch, this lovely piece is in an original condition, and keeps very good time. It comes fully serviced and regulated, and has been paired with a new crocodile strap.
A little history: the De Ville was launched in 1960 as a dress watch within the Seamaster line, which had first been manufactured in 1948. In 1963 it was famously seen on the wrist of James Bond in the film ‘From Russia with Love’. In 1967 the De Ville was launched as a separate line from that of the Seamaster.
