Omega Naiad Medicus 1937
About this watch
A really fine example of the Omega Naiad Medicus, in a very good condition for its age. With a lovely white face, bordered by a stainless steel case, bold arabic numerals, and a railroad track minute marker, this watch is highly-functional, with a lovely, attractive, understated design, very much in keeping with Omega watches.
It sports a centre sweep second hand, which was highly popular with medical professionals at the time for reading pulses, and which gave the watch its ‘Medicus’ label.
Reference number CK2064, it’s powered by the caliber 23.4 SC, with a manual wind 15-jewel movement, and beats at 18,000 beats per hour.
The Omega signature logo can be found on the watch face, the inside of the watch case, and on the watch movements.
A little history: the Omega Naiad Medicus was Omega’s first watch movement with a centre sweep second hand. Labelled as the ‘Medicus’ due to its uptake, and use, by medical professionals who found the centre sweep second hand far better for reading someone’s pulse, than the usual second hand found on a watch. The ‘Naiad’ relates to it being Omega’s first standard water resistant model.
