About this watch
A really striking 1952 Omega Seamaster Bumper with unusual waffle dial.
Unlike many of the slimline dress watches, Omega manufactured its bumper models with a little more depth, giving them a slightly different feel and look. This is an automatic example, and very fine for its vintage 60+ years.
The waffle dial is a very attractive bonus with added rarity value, set off beautifully by the gold numbers and markers and gold dauphine-shaped hands. We have regulated the movement and fitted a new genuine crocodile skin brown strap, a fine accompaniment to this superb vintage timepiece.
A little history: Just 4 years before this particular timepiece was created, Omega launched the Seamaster marque – a robust yet elegant wristwatch loosely based on those supplied to the RAF during World War II – to mark its centenary year. The bumper mechanism evolved from pocket watch automatic winding systems, an effective but arguably over-engineered design which was soon superseded.
