About this watch
This Seamaster 18ct Gold De Ville is a very rare find. A truly elegant timepiece, built around 1963; having the classic champagne dial with gold hands and baton markers, it measures 35mm in diameter and carries the distinct Seamaster logo on the reverse.
The 18ct gold case holds the original 24 jewels calibre 552 automatic movement with its 19,800 bph (5.5 beats per second) providing for a sweeping second hand and protected from shock by the integrated Incabloc system. The case has an engraving from 1965.
We have regulated the movement while the outside has received a gentle polish and a new strap.
A little history:
The Omega Seamaster was introduced in 1948. It was an early (but not the first) waterproof watch from Omega. The De Ville version of the Seamaster featured a case where the access to the movement was gained through the front of the watch rather than the back. The Seamaster De Ville was available from 1963.
In the same year, The Beatles released their debut album Please Please Me and reached number one in the UK Albums Chart. In the UK, The National Theatre Company was formed with Laurence Olivier as its artistic director. In the US, the tragic loss of JFK, a great leader, shocked the world.
