About this watch

This automatic Gold Cap Seamaster De Ville from circa 1967 is in beautiful condition. The dial and case are extremely clean and very crisp, as is the movement. The instantly recognisable hippocampus motif appears on the rear of the case.

The original white dial lends this vintage watch a certain radiant appeal. The case, made of a layer of gold melted onto a base of steel, houses the calibre 565 movement with 24 functional jewels.

This timepiece is in original condition and keeps very good time. The movement has been professionally serviced and regulated.

A little history:
The Omega Seamaster was introduced in 1948. The De Ville version of the Seamaster featured a front-loading case where the access to the movement was gained through the front of the watch rather than the back. The Seamaster De Ville was available from 1963.

In the same year:
Travelling at more than 300mph, water speed record holder Donald Campbell came to a tragic end in his jet-powered boat, the Bluebird K7, on Lake Coniston in Cumbria, England while attempting to break his own record; In America, Edward W Brooke became the first black American to be elected to the US Senate by popular vote; In the Tour de France, British cyclist Tom Simpson collapsed and died during the ascent of Mont Ventoux.
