About this watch
A lovely, rare Omega Suverän 1944. With a handsome black dial, featuring simple and bold arabic numerals, and a neat sub seconds dial, this a fine example of a solid, quality military-style Omega watch.
‘Omega Suverän’ can be found cleanly stamped on the back of the 35mm stainless steel case, with the Omega emblem displayed on the watch dial and crown.
Reference number 2400-7, it’s powered by the 15-jewel caliber 30T2 manual wind movement, and beats at 18,000 beats per hour.
This sought-after watch runs well, comes fully serviced and regulated, and is a great wear.
A little history: this watch has quite a unique history, having been manufactured solely for the Swedish market. The Swedish government bought the Suverän directly from Omega to sell to it’s own citizens at far higher prices in order to make a profit. This was one of many Swedish government initiatives to regain financial
independence as a neutral country during the war.
