This rare and handsome Omega Suverän Tropical Gilt, dates back to 1944. A highly popular watch in its day, it sports an attractive brown dial with luminous hour and minute hands, and a neat sub second dial just above the 6 ‘o’ clock mark .
Powered by the 15-jewel caliber 30T2 manual wind movement, it beats at 18,000 beats per hour, and has a screw-down solid stainless steel case, which bears the Omega signature on its back.
This sought-after watch, is in excellent condition, runs well, comes fully serviced and regulated, and looks great for both day and evening wear.
A little history: this watch has quite a unique history, having been manufactured solely for the Swedish market. The Swedish government bought the Suverän directly from Omega to sell to it’s own citizens at far higher prices in order to make a profit. This was one of many Swedish government initiatives to regain financial independence as a ‘neutral’ country during the war
