About this watch
A really fine example of the iconic Rolex Oyster Perpetual Chronometer, which dates back to its launch year.
Featuring an attractive champagne dial, with gold gilded, inverted triangular hour markers, made larger and particularly distinctive at the 3, 6 and 9 ‘o’ clock points. This watch features the Rolex crown in the 12 ‘o’ clock position, with Rolex spelt out directly below it, a really nice classic touch in some of the Oyster models.
Reference 6084, with the high-grade calibre 630 movement, this was the last generation of the bubble back watches —the term bubble back referring to a protruding case back, which in this watch is semi-bubble back.
In an all-original condition, this watch comes regulated, and keeps very good time.
A little history: The Oyster perpetual model 6084 was launched in 1953 following its test run to Mount Everest on Sir John Hunt’s expedition, in which Edmund Hilary and Tenzing Norgay reached the summit. Its lineage can be traced back to the original Oyster launched in 1926.
