About this watch
This 1957 Rolex Oyster is of a classic Rolex design. Simple, but classy, with gold Dauphine hands, numerals and five minute marker points set against a clean white dial and offset by a 7.5” Rolex silver stainless steel rivet bracelet, it’s a perfectly balanced piece.
With automatic movement – the first bi-directional automatic winding movement made by Rolex at the time – reference 6532, high-grade Cal.1030, a brushed and polished case with plain bezel, this a genuinely lovely find. In all its original condition, it maintains very good time and comes fully serviced and regulated.
The lineage of all Rolex Oyster watches can be traced back to that of the first Oyster watch manufactured by Rolex in 1926. Named after the sea oyster, due to it’s water resistance, ‘Oyster’ has been a hallmark of Rolex since. The trademark ‘crown’ located on the dial of Oyster watches, came about around the 1930s, and was then used in subsequent models, such as this 1957 model.
