About this watch

This all-original Gold cap 1962 Rolex Tudor Oyster-Prince features Oyster case stamped ‘Rolex’, crown bearing Rolex logo, calibre 2462 movement with lever escapement, 25 jewels, 18,000 BPH. Silver dial with gilt batons and date aperture.

A little history: Tudor, a sister brand to Rolex, was launched by Hans Wilsdorf in 1949. Viewed historically as a more affordable alternative to Rolex, the marque still managed to exhibit the high quality expected of the original. Indeed, during the golden era when the Tudor Oyster-Prince was launched in 1952, the watch was seen as a direct parallel to the Rolex-branded Oyster Perpetual – even featuring that Rolex branding on the crown and case – and the two marques appeared alongside each other in advertising etc. However, compared with a Rolex Oyster Perpetual of the same vintage, this exemplary timepiece represents exceptional value.
